The Kyu Nagayamatei, a historic site
that blends Japanese and Western architectural styles, is the residence of an important figure in the history of Hokkaido. When it was first built in 1887, it was built in the style of a Western-style wooden bungalow, which was very rare at the time. Later, the second floor was added, which is now known as the white façade and green roof. The Kyu Nagayamatei, which is a historically important place with both a pure Japanese-style room and a European-style reception room, is now designated as a memorial park and is safely preserved by the government.
