Higashi Chaya District, a townscape that retains the appearance of Kanazawa's castle town, is a castle town on the outskirts of the castle where ancient Japanese lords lived. These traces of history have been preserved to this day, and about one-third of the 140 buildings in this group are true monuments, adding to the charm of Kanazawa's cityscape. Higashi Chaya District, a row of traditional wooden tea houses and stone roads stretch along the road, and it is not only a famous sightseeing spot in Kanazawa, but also a group of people who have been designated as a "Preservation Area of Nationally Important Traditional Buildings"
